Israel Women's Network members to speak Wednesday
The Israel Women's Network (IWN) is Israel's foremost advocacy group for women's rights. IWN is a nonpartisan organization of women united in their determination to improve the status of women in Israel, despite differing political opinions, religious outlooks and ethnic origins. Key leaders of IWN are visiting Minnesota for 10 days.
Come to a talk by Israel Women's Network members from 12:15 to 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium (please note this new location for this event). The event is free and open to the public.
IWN members will speak about their achievements in moving Israeli society toward gender equity in the workplace, education, health care and the military. Equal rights between the sexes are enshrined in Israel's Declaration of Independence and are supported by extensive legislation – and IWN played a significant part in the passage of such legislation.
This event is sponsored by the Luann Dummer Center for Women, and the Sociology and Criminal Justice Department. The IWN visit is coordinated by state Sen. Sandy Pappas and is funded by various foundation, organizational and private donors.
