The Residence Hall Association will celebrate Resident Appreciation Week from Tuesday to Saturday, April 18 to 22. This will be a fun-filled week of activities and giveaways. We love our residents! Look for us all week long sporting black RHA wristbands.

Here is the schedule of events:

Tuesday, April 18

  • Grill out in the upper quad (free food for residents) during the convo hour (11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. ). You also may find us randomly handing out a special surprise. ...
  • Tommie Jam lip-sync contest at 8 p.m. in the auditorium, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Murray, Ireland, John Paul II, and St. John Vianney residence halls will compete in lip-sync performances to determine the best act from each hall. Each routine may have any number of people performing. Judges will award points based on originality, costume, performance, lip-synching and crowd response. Each person in the winning act will get a $5 gift certificate and compete in the Tommie Jam finale on Saturday.

Wednesday, April 19

  • Tommie Jam lip-sync contest (see event description above) at 10 p.m. in the auditorium, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Brady, Dowling, Selby and Morrison residence halls will compete.

Thursday, April 20

  • Tommie Jam lip-sync contest (see event description above) at 8 p.m. in the UV Cafe in Cretin Hall. Cretin and Grace residence halls will compete.
  • All day – free soft beautiful toilet paper will be distributed randomly to residents! So, keep your doors open and watch out – you may get a nice surprise.

Saturday, April 22

  • The Tommie Jam finale will be held alongside Tommies After Dark at 10:30 p.m. in the fireside room, Koch Commons. The best act from each hall will compete to determine the Tommie Jam winner. Acts should perform an ’80s song in keeping with STAR’s ’80s week. Judges will award points based on originality, costume, performance, lip-synching and crowd response. The winning act will receive a karaoke machine for their hall along with a $100 gift certificate to a local eatery! There may be a surprise performance to start off the show. ...
