University of St. Thomas business students, faculty and staff will host their 10th annual silent and live auction to raise money for the Listening House homeless shelter in St. Paul on Sunday, April 18.
This year, auction organizers hope to raise $30,000. The donations will help pay for the shelter’s operating costs for one month. The auction will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on campus.
Listening House has been dubbed “The Living Room of the Homeless” because it is the only homeless shelter in St. Paul that is open during the day. Open since 1983, the Listening House has been a refuge for those who need a warm place to spend a cold winter day. People not only seek shelter at The Listening House but also build friendships and relationships in a welcoming environment.
