Minneapolis campus Public Safety manager receives award from Minneapolis Police Department

By Dan Meuwissen, director
Public Safety and Parking Services

Public Safety and Parking Services congratulates its Minneapolis campus manager, Carl Sorensen, who was presented the “Chief’s Award of Merit” by the Minneapolis Police Department in a Sept. 28 presentation at the Target Center.

Sorensen and three others were recognized for their leadership and dedication in the development of the Minneapolis Downtown Security Collaborative. The collaborative is designed to encourage the sharing of resources between the private security companies and the Minneapolis Police Department, creating a “safe zone” for community members.

Sorenson was recognized for his leadership in the development of the collaborative’s training program, in which more than 290 people have participated.

Please take a moment and congratulate Carl.  I am extremely proud to note that this is the second “Chief’s Award” presented to members of the Public Safety Department in recent years: Mike Barrett, associate director of public safety and manager of investigations, received this award from the St. Paul Police Department last year.
