Philosophy Colloquium to Examine 'A Very Bad Argument'

Dr. Gary Atkinson, professor in the Philosophy Department, will speak at this month’s Philosophy Colloquium on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The presentation, “Why Some Don’t Believe in Moral Truth and Knowledge: A Very Bad Argument,” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts. Everyone is welcome.

Atkinson notes that there is a very bad argument for disbelieving in moral truth and moral knowledge: the Argument From Unresolved Widespread Disagreement. His talk will present the argument, show why it’s bad, and explain what is known when it is known that some act is morally right or morally wrong.
