Nonprofit leaders from Latin America visit Center for Nonprofit Management
The University of St. Thomas Center for Nonprofit Management, by invitation from the U.S. Department of State, met with nonprofit leaders from Latin America Aug. 25.
These leaders, representing Argentina, Bolivia, Columbia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, were guests of the Minnesota International Center through the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. They met with the Center for Nonprofit Management to discuss the center's goals and curriculum, as well as ways to train nonprofit leaders around the world.
Through the International Visitor Program – a public diplomacy tool of the State Department – visitors meet with experts working in similar fields to learn from their experiences and to share their own expertise. More than 200 current and former chiefs of state and heads of government are alumni of this program, including Tony Blair (United Kingdom), Gerhard Schroeder (Germany), Megawati Sukarnoputri (Indonesia), Mwai Kibaki (Kenya) and many more.
