One hundred nine prom dresses!

One hundred nine prom dresses!

From Dr. Ellen Kennedy
Director of Service Learning

Two weeks ago I asked for donations of prom dresses.  And now my office is a disaster – or heaven!

"Shall we dance?" They will at Lincoln International High School with these donated prom dresses.

There are more than 100 prom dresses in every color of the rainbow, covering every square inch of furniture. The dresses are long, short, beaded, sequined, plain, ruffled, satin, velvet – it’s unbelievable!  Plus shoes, purses, wraps and gloves.

All the dresses are going to the girls at Lincoln International High School in Minneapolis, a school for immigrant and refugee youth.  Lincoln is having its first-ever prom and the girls can’t afford dresses. Through the generosity of our students, faculty, staff, moms, neighbors, sisters and friends, including 26 dresses from University of Wisconsin-River Falls students, we’re helping the girls have a prom night to remember forever.

Thanks to all of you who gave up your beautiful gowns to make others happy (or to get your mom to stop bugging you to clean out your closet).
