The first One University Party for faculty and staff will be held Tuesday, May 19, in Woulfe Alumni Hall in the Anderson Student Center.
The 3-5 p.m. party will be an opportunity to celebrate the end of another successful academic year, President Julie Sullivan said. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
“One University” is one of the five themes in the strategic plan approved in November by the Board of Trustees. Task forces since have worked on developing initiatives to carry out the plan.
The rationale of the “One University” theme is to “actively seek formal and informal opportunities to function as one university.” Sullivan said the May 19 party will provide a perfect “informal” opportunity for people to gather together and thank each other for a job well done.
“As our academic year comes to a close, I am grateful for the hard work of so many people,” she said. “It seems like yesterday that more than 1,400 freshmen were walking through the Arches, and in only four weeks we will have final examinations and then graduation. The One University Party will be a grand time to celebrate what I believe has been an outstanding year.”
Sullivan hopes there will be a One University Party every May, and said the 2016 party will be in the Schulze Grand Atrium in the School of Law on the Minneapolis campus.
