The Jay Phillips Center for Interfaith Learning, College of Arts and Sciences, invites the university community to an open house Thursday, May 27, to celebrate its new location at 2097 Grand Ave.
The center previously was located at the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity. “The move allows the center to be more involved with faculty and students,” said Karen Schierman, associate director, “and improves its partnership with the Muslim Christian Dialogue Center, located next door on Grand Avenue.”
The celebration will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
The event also will provide an opportunity for the campus community to bid farewell to Schierman, who is retiring at the end of May after 21 years of service to the center. She began working with the late Rabbi Max A. Shapiro in 1989, followed by Rabbi Barry D. Cytron, who retired in January 2009.
Dr. John Merkle of the College of St. Benedict is the center’s current director.
