Positioning For Our Future Brown-bag Session Is April 12

St. Thomas President Julie Sullivan, senior administrators and external consultants will participate in a Positioning For Our Future brown-bag session Tuesday, April 12, at noon.

The session to discuss strategic plan and resource issues will be simulcast in James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall on the St. Paul campus and in 252 Terrence Murphy Hall on the Minneapolis campus. Sullivan and representatives of the Huron Consulting Group will participate, as will Dr. Richard Plumb, executive vice president and provost, and Mark Vangsgard, vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer. Cookies and coffee will be available.

In January, Sullivan distributed an email, titled “Positioning For Our Future,” to faculty and staff outlining steps that St. Thomas will take to assess and align resources to help meet priorities in the strategic plan. She held brown-bag sessions Feb. 4 and 9 on the two campuses.

The steps include an external hiring pause, a voluntary departure plan for faculty and non-union staff, and the establishment of teams in each department to assess operations and whether services should be reduced or could be effectively provided with a smaller staff.
