Postal Service Increases Express, Priority, Parcel-post Rates an Average of 4 Percent

On Jan. 2, the U.S. Postal Service increased the price of express, priority and parcel-post mail pieces an average of 4 percent. These increases also included express international, priority international and parcel select.

Effective April 17, rates will  increases for domestic and international postcards, as well as international letters. Also included in the postal rate increase are: first-class flats, first-class parcels, standard mail, periodicals, package services and extra services. These services will increase an average of 1.7 percent.

The good news: The first-class stamp did not increase; first-class stamps will remain at 44 cents.
