Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of an aggravated assault that occurred near the Minneapolis campus.
At approximately 2:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, Public Safety officers observed two unidentified black male suspects running southeast along 10th Street South , past Minneapolis Opus Hall. One of the suspects discarded a red sweatshirt. The suspects ran north on Lasalle Avenue, then fled east on 9th Street South.
An unidentified witness approached Public Safety officers and reported the suspects had just assaulted an unidentified Hispanic male victim at the intersection of 10th Street South and Hennepin Avenue. Officers found the victim at the intersection, bleeding from the nose and mouth, unconscious and breathing. The Minneapolis Police Department and Hennepin County Medical Center medics were contacted.
The victim was transported by medics to an area hospital for advanced medical care. Minneapolis Police are currently investigating this incident.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.
