Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of an aggravated assault reported by the Minneapolis Police Department via MPD Action Alert.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2013, the Minneapolis Police Department reported that an unidentified victim was assaulted by an unknown suspect on the 1100 block of Hennepin Avenue. The alert noted that the victim was threatened by the suspect with a knife. Further incident details are not known at this time.
While previous Minneapolis Police Department alerts have shown these types of incidents to occur more commonly at night, the time of occurrence is a worthy reminder to community members not to take their personal safety for granted, regardless of time of day.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call Public Safety at (651) 962-5100 or the Minneapolis Police Department at (612) 348-2345.
