Public Safety would like to inform the University of St. Thomas community of a robbery that occurred near the Macalester College campus.
At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, May 15, according to a security warning issued by the Macalester Security Office, three students were walking south on Pierce Street, just north of Summit Avenue, near the Macalester campus. A dark colored vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, stopped in the street and three masked suspects got out. The suspects approached the students and told them to get on the ground. One of the suspects had what looked like a gun. Purses and phones were taken from the students. One of the students was also kicked several times and sustained minor injuries.
One of the suspects was described as a white male, with light colored skin. The St. Paul Police Department was contacted and is investigating this incident.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact SPPD at (651) 291-1111.
