Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of a robbery that occurred in the area of Summit and Cleveland Avenues.
At 12:41 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, Public Safety was called to a medical in the area. A UST student reported while walking eastbound on Summit Avenue towards Cleveland Avenue, two males attempted to rob him. The student refused to give up his property. One of the suspects struck at him with a knife, which the student blocked with his arm, causing a laceration. The suspects ran off in an unknown direction.
The St. Paul Police Department and St. Paul Fire Department Medics were contacted.
The first suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’ 6”, stocky build, clean shaven, with brown hair, wearing a dark green sweatshirt. The second suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’ 9”, with an athletic build, sandy blonde hair, wearing a light colored tank top and light pants.
Public Safety also would like to advise the University of St. Thomas community of a robbery that occurred in the area of Ford Parkway and Cleveland Avenue.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, a UST student reported he was outside of Jimmy John’s on Ford Parkway, trying to hail a cab. Four suspects approached the student and started speaking with him. The student believed he was being robbed and handed over several pieces of personal property, including his phone and wallet, to the suspects. The student’s friends and some Jimmy John’s staff came outside, and the suspects left the area. The student later reported the incident to the St. Paul Police Department.
The suspects were only described as four black males. The student could not provide any further information.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of these incidents.
