Public Safety Posts Advisory Concerning Bike Thefts

The University of St. Thomas Department of Public Safety has posted an advisory regarding a series of recent bike thefts.

At 1:16 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, a student reported her bicycle was stolen from her secured front porch on the 2200 block of Marshall Avenue. The screen on the porch door was damaged and the door was found unsecured.

At 1:20 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, a student reported his bicycle was stolen from his unsecured front porch on the 1900 block of Selby Avenue.

At 9:14 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, a neighbor reported an attempt was made to steal a bicycle from his secured front porch. The screen on the porch door was cut and the door unsecured. A bike was removed from the porch, but recovered in the front yard. The neighbor believed the bike was left because a wheel was secured to the bike frame with a U-style lock.
