The second annual Minnesota Work-Life Champions Awards, sponsored by the Center for Ethical Business Cultures, were presented in January. Employers were grouped by size, ranging from very small (five to 49 employees) to very large (3,000 or more employees). Within each category, at least three companies received a Minnesota Work-Life Champion award, and one outstanding employer was named in each category. By size, the winners were Health Service Innovations (very small), Healthia Consulting (small), Gray Plant Mooty (medium), Weber Shandwick (large) and Ceridian (very large). Employers that demonstrated their commitment and efforts to implement work-life policies and practices were recognized as Work-Life Advocates. In addition, three companies received Innovative Initiate Awards for incorporating programs that recognize the diverse needs of employees: Deloitte & Touche for its Personal Pursuits program, United Farmers Cooperative for its Crunch Pay program, and Karlsson Consulting Group Inc. for its Individual Development Plan.
