Register online today to volunteer at State Fair booth
Do you enjoy the Minnesota State Fair? Would you like to speak with potential students, parents and alumni and general fairgoers? Now is your chance to share your knowledge of and pride in St. Thomas as a volunteer. You’ll meet other members of the St. Thomas community and receive a free T-shirt and entry ticket. Labor Day weekend volunteers receive two extra entry tickets.
This year, the fair runs Thursday, Aug. 27, through Monday, Sept. 7. Shifts at the UST booth last three hours and begin at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 and 6 p.m. Five people will be assigned to each shift. Sign up early to get the date and time that works best for you. The most popular time slots fill up quickly!
Employees wishing to volunteer at the booth during their regular work hours must obtain supervisor approval prior to signing up for a shift. Hourly employees may sign up for one three-hour shift during their regular work hours and will be paid the three hours at the booth plus one additional hour to compensate for travel.
Volunteers are asked to attend one of two kick-off/orientation sessions, where volunteers will receive T-shirts, purple tote bags, shift instructions and entry tickets for the days they are working at the booth. Kick-off sessions will be held noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Room 252, Terrence Murphy Hall in Minneapolis, and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in the 3M Auditorium, Owens Science Hall, on St. Paul’s south campus.
For the fifth consecutive year, booth volunteers will give away the ever-popular purple tote bags. The bags feature a new design for State Fair ’09, and they’ll be distributed at the beginning of each shift.
