Scholarships available for pre-med students
Each year the University of St. Thomas awards the following scholarships to students who are planning to attend medical school.
The James E. and Kathleen C. O'Phelan Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dr. Harvey E. O'Phelan to provide financial assistance for undergraduate students who are planning to apply to medical school. The recipient must be a junior or senior in the year the award will be used (2008-09).
The Niels and Carol Sorensen Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Niels and Carol Sorensen. It is awarded to a student who is majoring in biology, chemistry or engineering and plans to attend medical school. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 and be a junior or senior in the year the award will be used (2008-09).
To apply for either scholarship, pick up an application form from Veronica Golon in the Biology Department office, Room 352, Owens Science Hall. Return the completed application, along with a copy of your current résumé by Friday, April 4.
