Services for Daniel Zamlen will be held on campus Thursday and in Eveleth Saturday

Memorial and funeral services for University of St. Thomas freshman Daniel Zamlen will be held Thursday, May 7, on the university's St. Paul campus and Saturday, May 9, in his hometown of Eveleth.

Thursday's service, a memorial Mass, will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas. All are welcome.

Saturday's funeral Mass will be held at noon at the Resurrection Catholic Church, 301 Adams Ave., in Eveleth. Visitation will be held at the church that day from 10 a.m. until noon. A lunch will be served after the funeral at the Eveleth Curling Club.

Dan, 19, is the son of Sally and Dale Zamlen of Eveleth. A benefit dinner for the family is being held there this evening at Resurrection Catholic Church.

Dan had been missing since Sunday, April 5. Authorities recovered his body on Friday, May 1, in the Mississippi River near the Ford dam.

Father Dennis Dease, president of St. Thomas, has asked the university community to keep Dan and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
