St. Thomas Trustee Lee Anderson to Speak at First Friday Lunch March 2

St. Thomas trustee Lee Anderson will be featured at the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association’s First Friday Speaker Series at noon Friday, March 2, at Nicollet Island Pavilion, 40 Power St., near downtown Minneapolis. A passionate believer in sharing one’s wealth, Anderson will share his personal philosophy about philanthropy, especially his desire to help higher-education institutions.

Anderson is the chairman of APi Group, Inc., a St. Paul holding corporation of construction, manufacturing and fire-protection companies. He was elected to the St. Thomas Board of Trustees in 2000.

Anderson and his wife, Penny, have been major benefactors of the Opening Doors capital campaign. As as result, the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex, the Anderson Parking Facility and the recently opened Anderson Student Center all are named in recognition of their generosity.

Anderson is on the boards of many companies, foundations and other organizations, including the Board of  Governors of the University of St. Thomas School of Law. In 2002, he received the John F. Cade Award for  entrepreneurial excellence from the John M. Morrison Center for Entrepreneurship at St. Thomas.

On first Friday of each month during the academic year, the St. Thomas Alumni Association’s First Friday Speaker Series offers lunch and a speaker of current interest. St. Thomas alumni and friends, along with the general public, are invited. Cost of each luncheon and presentation is $25.

For reservations and more information, call the St. Thomas Alumni Association, (651) 962-6430, or register online. The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 24.
