An 18-year-old University of St. Thomas student was injured Tuesday evening while crossing the intersection of Summit and Cretin avenues.
The student, Yung Jen Vang, was walking across Summit at about 10:15 p.m. when struck by a car driven by a 56-year-old St. Paul man. According to a police report, the car had been traveling south on Cretin and had turned left, or east, onto Summit when Vang was hit.
Police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and was brought to the Ramsey County jail.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Vang to Regions Hospital. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in fair condition Wednesday morning.
