Summer study-abroad course to look at urban sustainability

Urban sustainability will be the topic of a Sustainable Cities summer study-abroad course offered by Augsburg College this summer. With a focus on environmental studies, the course will compare how Minneapolis; Portland, Ore.; Victoria, BC.; and Vancouver, B.C.; make and implement policies that promote urban sustainability. Students will “walk the talk” by using public transportation, eating locally and living green.

The course is organized by Augsburg Abroad at Augsburg College and led by Augsburg faculty Lars Christiansen and Nancy Fischer. Students will travel between July 8 and Aug. 1.

For more information about the course, e-mail Andrea Dvorak. Students interested in applying should call the International Education Center, (651) 962-6450, to schedule an appointment with a study-abroad adviser.
