Taekwondo Club Welcomes new Members

The traditional Korean martial art of taekwondo is now being taught at St. Thomas. An informational meeting of the new Taekwondo Club was held last week, but the club welcomes new members.

The club will usually meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, in Room 112, Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex, with additional meetings at 6 p.m. Sundays. Students who are interested in joining should email Lynn Nguyen for more information.

Club members will be trained by second-degree black belt Stephanie Wright, from World Taekwondo Academy, and members will be able to belt test. The belt testing is recognized by the USAT (USA Taekwondo) and WTF (World Taekwondo Federation). In addition to belt testing, members can learn to spar and compete in tournaments – if they so choose.
