Third in lecture series on Paul the saint will be held tomorrow

Father Juan Betancourt of the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity will give the third in a series of five luncheon talks dealing with the history and theology of Paul the saint.

Betancourt will discuss "In Light of Christ: Christ at the Center of Paul's Theology," from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in the Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library on the south campus of the University of St. Thomas.

All students, staff and faculty are welcome. The series is sponsored by the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity.

The series, "St. Paul: Theologian, Pastor and Missionary. Reflections on the History and Theology of our Patron" is being held in connection with the Year of St. Paul, proclaimed in June by Pope Benedict XVI.

Lunch will be provided and reservations are requested. To make a reservation, or for more information, call (651) 962-5786.

The Ireland library is right next door to the seminary courtyard which this fall welcomed a new statue of St. Paul.

The remaining two talks in the series are:

  • "Practical Theology: Paul as Theologian for the Church," Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, with Father Scott Carl of the seminary.
  • "'Imitate Me': Maturity in the Life of Christ," Friday, March 13, 2009, with Dr. John Martens.
