'Troubling Waters,' discussions on popular culture and film, continue Nov. 7

"Troubling Waters: Discussions on Meanings and Messages in Popular Culture and Film," a series of interdisciplinary discussions on power, race, gender and culture, will continue at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Room 126 (auditorium), John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.

Student Kelli Beck, Dr. Kanishka Chowdury of the UST English Department, and Dr. Lawrence Potter, executive director of institutional diversity, will show 10-minute film excerpts and invite the audience to consider ways in which the films participate in and comment on elements of American culture.

The discussion, free and open to the public, is sponsored by St. Thomas' American Culture and Difference program (formerly American Cultural Studies).
