Reception to honor new women faculty, staff; Kowalski Leadership Award to be presented

The St. Thomas community is invited to the University Advocates for Women spring reception on Thursday, March 25. The event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Great Room (Room 100) of McNeely Hall.

Women faculty and staff who were hired since March 2009 will be introduced and welcomed by the community. The Sister Pat Kowalski Women’s Leadership Award also will be presented this year to two students, Kelly Rodriguez and Lauren Miller.

If you are a female employee hired at UST in the last year and have not received a personal invitation to this celebration, contact Dr. Susan Myers, (651) 962-5321.

Kowalski died in May 1999. The Women’s Leadership Award is dedicated in memory of her spirit and work. She was director of community partnerships at St. Thomas for seven years and initiated and facilitated programs and contacts with the broader community. She was a member of the University Committee on Women and was interested in issues concerning women and equality.

Each year the award rotates among faculty, staff and students.
