Crew club ends its season with the Gold Cup Points Trophy for best performance in a regatta

From the crew club

The Northstar Challenge crew race was a success for both varsity and novice teams. Many rowers took home medals. The teams that participated included Macalester, Lawrence, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud and Winona State.

The varsity team will be even stronger next year with the performance of the novice team. The women's novice 8 team A took first and B took second. The men's novice 8 came in fourth, seconds behind third-place Lawrence. There were three boats from St. Thomas in the women's novice 4 race. The A team came in with a silver medal, followed by the B and C team in fourth and fifth place. Men's novice 8 took fourth place with a tight race against Michigan Tech, which took third.

The women's varsity 8 took home the gold with a time seven-seconds faster than second-place Lawrence. The men's varsity 8 also came in first against Michigan Tech. The men's varsity 4 came in fourth place only seconds behind the winning boat, Michigan Tech. The women's varsity 4 team A took first and B took fourth.

Overall, UST took home the Gold Cup Points Trophy for the best performance in the regatta. What a way to end the season.

Thank you to everyone who has been following the team this season. The next thing to look forward to is the Erg Race, Minnesota Power Pull in February, followed by spring races in April.
