  • “Student raped in dorm at Concordia University in St. Paul,” Star Tribune, Oct. 19, 2003. “[St. Paul Police Department spokesperson Paul] Schnell said police have no reason to believe that the rape is related to one last spring at Macalester College in St. Paul or recent incidents at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul in which female students were sexually groped by a stranger.   • Ex-prison chaplain Francis Vrana dies,” St. Paul Pioneer Press, Oct. 20, 2003. “Vrana was born in a working-class family in St. Paul. He graduated from Cretin High School and went to the University of Michigan, the then-College of St. Thomas and the St. Paul Seminary. After his ordination in 1953, Vrana was assistant pastor at the Church of St. Leo in St. Paul for 10 years and at the church of St. Jerome in Maplewood for five years before becoming a prison chaplain.” https://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/7055539.htm
  • “Rape at Concordia University leaves students, schools on high alert,” Star Tribune, Oct. 21, 2003. “An e-mail about the Concordia rape was sent to students, faculty and staff members at the nearby University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. That campus is already dealing with its own series of incidents this year, including the groping of a 20-year-old student in front of a residence hall on Oct. 12. A 27-year-old man was arrested in that incident. Jim Winterer, a St. Thomas spokesman, said Monday that doors, emergency phones and other safety measures on campus have been inspected since Saturday.”

  • “Class A soccer: Mahtomedi siblings different yet similar,” St. Paul Pioneer Press, Oct. 21, 2003.
