UST Students Receive Awards From Delta Epsilon Sigma National Office

St. Thomas students have fared exceptionally well in national competitions sponsored by Delta Epsilon Sigma, the national scholastic honor society for students who attend Catholic colleges and universities.

Emily Kindelspire was one of two students nationally to win the J. Patrick Lee Prize in Service. She was awarded $1,000 in recognition of the way she exemplifies the ideals of Catholic social teaching through engagement in service.

Three St. Thomas students recently earned recognition at the annual national Delta Epsilon Writing Contest:

  • Hannah Polsky, “Knowledge from the Cross and Sun: G.K. Chesterton’s Epistemology and Guide to Sanity”– first place, Scholarly Research Category, $500
  • David Steinhafel, “Worry” – second place, Short Fiction Category, $250
  • Elizabeth Heaney, “Aftershocks and Imitation” – honorable mention, Poetry Category
