UST students represented Costa Rica and Venezuela in American Model United Nations conference

St. Thomas participated in American Model United Nations conference

The Model United Nations group of the Foreign Affairs Club participated in the American Model United Nations conference Nov. 19-22 in Chicago. Students represented delegations from Costa Rica and Venezuela.

Participants included: Lauren Beecham, Peter Billerbeck, Kathryn Crawford, Andrew Engen, Jose Hernandez, Rachel Hoffman, Emmy Josefson, Kayla Kowitz, Kiersten Norby, Tiffany Orff, Katherine Sutton, Dolkar Tenzin and Haley Waller.

At the opening ceremonies, students were addressed by the former UN Ambassador from Pakistan. Billerbeck, who participated in the International Court of Justice simulation, was elected by that body to preside over the proceedings during the conference.

The Model United Nations group thanks the All College Council, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Luann Dummer Center for Women and the Political Science Department for their support for the group’s participation in this conference.
