Visting Author to Lead Creative Writing Workshop Nov. 4

Bruce Machart, the author of The Wake of Forgiveness and the ACTC visiting author, will lead a creative writing workshop on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Machart’s fiction has appeared in Zoetrope: All-Story, Glimmer Train, Story, One-Story, and elsewhere, and has been anthologized in Best Stories of the American West. His latest book, The Wake of Forgiveness, received five stars from the Los Angeles Times, and he has recently appeared on NPR. A graduate of the Master of Fine Arts program at The Ohio State University, he currently lives and teaches in Houston, Texas.

The workshop, free and open to the public, will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 303, O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. Food and beverages will be provided. The workshop is hosted by Sigma Tau Delta and the Literary Club.

In addition to presenting the workshop, Machart will read from The Wake of Forgiveness from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Room 126 (auditorium), John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.
