Volunteers In Action Offers Service Opportunities

How are you spending your free time?  Consider volunteering.

Volunteers In Action is a student-run organization that provides St. Thomas students with the opportunity to interact with the St. Paul and Minneapolis community through service. By only giving a couple of hours a week, students can make a difference in someone’s life.

Applications will be available beginning today outside the UST Center for Intercultural Learning and Community Engagement, located in Room 153, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Applications are due back to CILCE on Monday, Sept. 27.

Five weekly service opportunities and volunteer sites for fall 2010:

  • CLUES
  • Adopt-A-Grandparent
  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Tommies Park and Rec
  • M.E.D.S.

Plus a new monthly volunteer site:

  • Tommie Outreach (no application necessary)

For more information about these sites, stop by VIA’s table at the Activities Fair from noon to 1 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 21, or e-mail Volunteers In Action.
