Starting Thursday, March 17, the Wellness Center will “rent” basic GPS units free of charge to students. The rentals will promote geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunt.
Basics of geocaching
Someone hides a box (cache) and then puts the geographic coordinates online. People use those coordinates and their GPS to find the hidden cache. Most caches contain a log so that people can record who found it and when. The Wellness Center will hide several boxes (caches) throughout the year and the first person to find them will get a prize.
Find caches here or get a list of nearby caches when picking up the GPS unit. Renters will have to sign a waiver.
