Take a break from work and studies to enjoy a performance by the homegrown band Wilkinson James on study day, Thursday, Dec. 15. The show will take place at noon in the O’Shaughnessy Room (108) of the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center.
Wilkinson James, aka Andy Scheiber and Liz Wilkinson, came together a little more than three years ago when Wilkinson moved to the Twin Cities from North Carolina to take a job in St. Thomas’ English Department – which just happened to be Scheiber’s gig at UST as well. They discovered that they shared a love for the same kinds of music (folk, blues, alternative country), and found that their voices blended as well as their musical tastes.
The band’s repertoire features a mix of original songs and tunes borrowed from the likes of Gillian Welch, Johnny Cash and the Everly Brothers. Wilkinson and Scheiber play in and around the cities at various bars and coffee shops a couple of times a month, always juggling music with their day jobs as UST faculty members.
