Battle Winter With Ice Scrapers, Hot Chocolate, Snow Emergency Information

Winter has plowed its way in Minnesota once again, and the Commuter Center wants to remind students of the many resources available when the weather turns nasty.

On Wednesday, Dec. 1, Undergraduate Student Government members and commuter advisers will conduct a Snow Emergency Drive and hand out ice scrapers, hot chocolate, and information on snow emergencies, parking and winter safety in the commuter parking lots.

Volunteers will be in the lots handing out the materials as well as pouring cups of hot chocolate from beverage-dispensing backpacks. Commuters who are not on campus tomorrow are invited to stop by the Commuter Center on Thursday to pick up the information.

The Commuter Center is located in Room 17, in the lower level of Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

To find out when snow emergencies are declared and related parking information, go to websites in St. Paul, or call (651) 266-PLOW, or in Minneapolis, or call (612) 348-SNOW. Both cities provide e-mail and cell phone notification services.

For more information contact the Commuter Center and Off-Campus Services, (651) 962-6138.
