“On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) Program”
Each semester, many different companies come to campus to interview juniors and seniors for internship and full-time career positions. To learn more about the program and gain access to position descriptions, students must attend an OCI orientation session.

Finding a job or internship takes more than luck. Using certain job-search methods can help you find a position faster. Learn techniques that are proven successful.

“Résumé Writing and Job-Seeking Letters”
Does your résumé pass the 30-second test? Learn what employers look for when screening résumés. If you have a résumé draft, bring it to the seminar. The focus will be on developing a targeted résumé that transfers your experiences into marketable skills. Cover letters also will be discussed briefly.

“Evaluating and Negotiating Job Offers”
How do you decide if you should accept the offer an employer has made to you for an internship or job opportunity? Do you know how to evaluate if the offer is a good fit for you? Are you aware of the key items to consider in negotiations and phrases to use in the process? This seminar will lead you through these important topics to educate you and increase your comfort level in evaluating and negotiating offers.

“Graduate and Advanced Degree Seekers”
Are you thinking of furthering your education by pursuing an advanced degree? This seminar covers researching institutions and programs, important test dates, writing a personal statement, admissions interviews and other issues facing those who are thinking about continuing their studies.
This seminar will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Room 355, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
Graduate and Professional School Day
Talk to more than 100 representatives from law, business education, health sciences and a variety of other graduate and professional programs from across the country. See the University of Minnesota’s Career Serivces Web page for a list of participants. Attend workshops on “How to Apply” and “Funding Graduate or Professional School ” and obtain information on admissions tests. This event is free.
This free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the University of Minnesota Coffman Memorial Union Great Hall. Visit the U’s Services Web page for maps and parking information.
“How to Prepare for the GRE Tests”
This seminar will be conducted by Dr. Tom Rochon, executive vice president and chief academic officer at UST, who has extensive experience in preparing candidates for the GRE. He will provide tips and know-how to aide students in successfully preparing for the exam. Any student considering graduate school or taking the GRE will want to attend this informative session.
This GRE prep session will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in Room 355, Murray-Herrick Campus Center .
“I’ve Had an Internship, Now What?”
You learned a lot from your internship. Do you know what you learned and how to articulate it? Internships can impact your career planning, your preferences, your self-knowledge and your appeal to a prospective employer. Come to this seminar to figure these things out and review how your internship will change your résumé, your interviews and your job search. Refreshments will be provided.
This seminar will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Room 355, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
Government Job and Internship Fair
Students and alumni from the University of St. Thomas may register to attend this event. For further information on the fair and a list of participating organizations view the Government Job and Internship Fair Web site. There is no fee to participate, but you must register o participate in this event, there is no fee, but you will need to register in advance on the Career Development Center’s Web site.
