City to make water main connections for St. Thomas business building

The St. Paul Public Works Department will make water service connections for the new business education building at St. Thomas during the week of Oct. 24.

Crews will need up to five days to connect the new 8-inch line to the existing water main under Cleveland Avenue midway between Summit and Grand avenues. The city hopes not to disrupt traffic on Cleveland during the project and plans to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction. If that is not possible, southbound traffic will be detoured at Summit.

St. Thomas broke ground on the $24 million project last May. The 75,000-square-foot McNeely hall and a 120-car underground parking garage will open next September in time for the 2006-2007 academic year.
