Coreil Ryder, former Teach for America corps member, to speak Feb. 5
Of the 13 million children growing up in poverty in this country, about half won't graduate from high school. Those who do graduate will perform, on average, at an eighth-grade level (National Assessment of Educational Progress 2005].

Teach for America is seeking students from all academic majors. Participants receive full salary and health benefits; no education courses or experience is necessary.
Corps members are placed in one of 25 regions around the country, including New York City, the Rio Grande Valley, Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles, the Mississippi Delta, Hawaii and South Dakota.
The final application deadline is Sunday, Feb. 18.
