Credit Union Offers Signature Loan Special

The St. Thomas Employee Federal Credit Union is offering members a signature loan special. Membership in the credit union is open to any regular employee of the University of St. Thomas, St. Thomas Academy or the credit union, and immediate family members of those employees.

A Beacon (credit) score of 750 is required – with no exceptions. Loans up to $5,000 are available for up to five years at 8 percent fixed annual percentage rate. This loan can be taken in addition to the credit union’s regular $3,000 signature loan, but may not exceed its $40,000 loan limit to any one member.

The loan can be used for any legal purpose. The credit union offers these suggestions:

  • Get the $1,500 home energy efficiency improvement tax credit. Consumers who purchase and install specific products, such as energy-efficient windows, insulation, doors, roofs, and heating and cooling equipment in existing homes, can receive a tax credit for 30 percent of the cost up to $1,500 for improvements “placed in service” through Dec. 31. See EnergyStar.gov's Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency for a complete summary of energy efficiency tax credits available to consumers.
  • Pay off a higher rate credit card, pay tuition or buy a new couch. Any legal purpose is fine.

Call (651) 962-6660 or stop by the credit union office in Room 209, Loras Hall, for an application.
