The international spotlight will shine on Nepal as the CultureLink Tea series returns to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Nirmal Singh, a student in Graduate Programs in Software, will give the presentation on Nepal, his home country. Singh is from Birgunj, in south-central Nepal, on the border with India.

“If I were to walk in my sleep I would end up in India,” Singh joked.
The tea will be held from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Scooter’s, Anderson Student Center.
“The purpose of the CultureLink Tea series is to provide an opportunity for the St. Thomas community to learn about other cultures and traditions and to provide our international student’s the opportunity to share their cultures,” said Sarah Churchill, intercultural programs coordinator, International Student Services.
The monthly CultureLink Teas are free and open to the entire St. Thomas community. Tea and desserts are provided. CultureLink Teas also will be presented Tuesdays, Oct. 22 and Nov. 12.
Nepal is a developing country, according to Singh. It is noted most for the Himalaya Mountains, and Mt. Everest and the Sherpas who climb it.
Singh comes from a farming family that invested in education. He has three siblings: an engineer, a doctor and a teacher.
“Both my parents have visited Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas campuses, and they are very appreciative of the country as a whole and this campus,” Singh said.
