Nomination deadline extended through Dec. 15 for 2010 Diversity Leadership Awards

The online nominating process for the 2010 Diversity Leadership Awards has been extended through Tuesday, Dec. 15. The Diversity Leadership Awards recognize an academic or service unit or faculty and staff who have demonstrated – through  their positive interactions with others,  personal efforts, and unique contributions – a respect and value for differing backgrounds and points of view within the St. Thomas community.

Staff, faculty and units who: (1) actively and positively promote the concept of diversity by enhancing or contributing to the overall environment of the university through improving a cross-cultural understanding; (2) show a commitment to the spirit of diversity; and (3) illustrate a commitment to inclusion of people within the institution who are members of historically underrepresented groups should be considered for one of the three Diversity Leadership Awards categories.

The nomination forms for each category can be found by viewing these links: diversity leadership teaching/research award, diversity leadership staff award, and diversity leadership academic or service unit award. General descriptions for all awards can be found under the “Programs” tab on the OID Web site.

Completed nomination information must be submitted online no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The Diversity Leadership Awards will be presented at a university program open to the public during the spring semester. For more information contact Susan Spray, chair of the Diversity Leadership Awards Committee, (651) 962-6984.

The Diversity Leadership Awards are sponsored by the Office of Institutional Diversity. The review committee is comprised of members elected within the University Diversity Advisory Council.
