English Department congratulates winning essayists

The English Department offers its congratulations to the following students for submitting the best essay in their respective category for this year’s annual essay contest.

The contest was open to all first-year students enrolled in 100-level English courses during the current academic year. Each winner will be awarded $75.

The winners and the titles of their papers are:

  • Molly Chester, “My Childhood Home,” written for an ENGL 110 course taught by Dr. Alexis Easley
  • Francisca Marino-Rojas, “Perception, Prejudice, and the Need to Belong,” written for an ENGL 111 course taught by Dr. Young-ok An
  • Daniel Petranek, “Shakespeare and the History Boys,” written for an ENGL 190 course taught by Dr. Catherine Craft-Fairchild
