Everyone is invited to March 26 reception for new women faculty and staff

The UST community is invited to a ceremony that celebrates the women faculty and staff who were hired since March 2006 and features the presentation of the Sister Pat Kowalski Women's Leadership Award.

Presented by the University Committee on Women and the Luann Dummer Center for Women, this event will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, March 26, in the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.

Women faculty and staff who were hired since March 2006 will be invited to introduce themselves and be welcomed by the community. The Sister Pat Kowalski Women's Leadership Award will be presented this year to two students, Alethea Alden and Laura Stierman.

If you are a female employee hired at UST in the last year and have not received a personal invitation to this celebration, please contact Susan Myers, (651) 962-5321.

For more information, call the center, (651) 962-6119.

Sister Pat Kowalski died in May 1999. The Women's Leadership Award is dedicated in memory of her spirit and work. She was director of community partnerships at St. Thomas for seven years. She initiated and facilitated programs and contacts with the broader community.

Kowalski was a member of the University Committee on Women and was interested in issues concerning women and equality. Each year the award rotates between faculty, staff and students.
