Elizabeth Smith Named Associate Director of Faculty Development Center

Elizabeth Smith, formerly of Information Resources and Technologies, has been named associate director of the Faculty Development Center.

Smith has been at St. Thomas for seven years consulting with faculty on integrating technology into teaching and developing programs and activities through the IRT Faculty Center for eLearning. She is experienced in using technology to support teaching and is a specialist in blended and online course development.

Prior to coming to St. Thomas, Smith earned an M.S. in experimental psychology and applied statistics from North Dakota State University; she then worked at NDSU for six years, working closely with faculty to design and assess online courses and instructional multimedia projects.

Smith will be heading up new initiatives to build support for faculty interested in strengthening the use of technology in the classroom, and she also will lead many of the center's continuing programs to support faculty in a variety of other ways. She is interested in developing a range of programs that support St. Thomas faculty with teaching, assessment, and research.
