The 2010 Charitable Giving Campaign is upon us. Although the Office for Mission accepts donations at any time, the official campaign begins Monday, Nov. 2, and runs through Friday, Nov. 13.
Last year, $45,862 was pledged. In spite of difficult economic times, you are encouraged to exceed that amount this year. The people at the low end of the economic scale suffer the most in these times. Their dependence on us is greater than ever.
The campaign this year will be a “mostly” electronic campaign. A Charitable Giving booklet and pledge form will be mailed to your e-mail address Monday and also can be found by accessing the Charitable Giving Web site. After reviewing the booklet and pledge form, print the pledge form, complete it, and return it to the Office for Mission, Mail #AQU104, by Friday, Nov. 13. Links to the various federations and organizations they represent also can also be found on the Web site.
You are encouraged to consider the convenience of donating via payroll deduction. By using payroll deduction, your contribution can be paid over the course of 26 pay periods, or it can be paid as a one-time deduction. Using payroll deduction makes giving almost pain free, but cash gifts always are welcome. All contributions, large or small, are greatly appreciated.
Paper campaign materials will be distributed via campus mail to employees who lack access to a computer or have limited access. If that is your situation or the situation of employees in your unit, call the Office for Mission, (651) 962-5200, and request paper campaign materials.
Drawing
Finally, at the end of the campaign there will be a random drawing, a highlight of which is a luncheon for five employees at Morrison House hosted by our president, Father Dennis Dease. Many other items have been donated for the drawing by a variety of people and businesses both on campus and locally. To be eligible for the drawing, you must be a first-time contributor or increase your pledge by 5 percent over last year’s pledge and send your pledge form by 4:30 p.m. Nov. 13, to the Office for Mission. For a complete list of items and donors, consult the Charitable Giving Web site.
Please give what you can in order to help others in our community. The need is great and, as our theme states, “You make a world of difference!”
Thank you for your generosity and support. May God bless you.
