"Gimme a head with hair, long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there, hair!
Shoulder length, longer (hair!)"
~ Lyrics from "Hair"
Got 'down to there, hair' to share?
Got "shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen … down to there, hair" to share?
You can make a lasting impact on the life of a child by donating your hair to the Locks of Love foundation. That's what Megan Furlong intends to do.
Furlong, a freshman, will host an event in early spring for the Locks of Love foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides hair pieces for children under 18 with medical hair loss.
To raise awareness and to promote the spring event, Father Dennis Dease, president of St. Thomas, will cut Furlong's hair at halftime during the men's basketball game on Monday, Dec. 8.
Furlong is looking for students who are interested in donating six or more inches of hair at the spring event. Informational flyers will be available from Furlong at the game.
Can't wait for the spring event to get a hair cut? Talk to Furlong at the game or e-mail her, and she will make sure that your donation gets to the Locks of Love.
The men's basketball team hosts Augsburg College at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, in Schoenecker Arena.
