Green Team Sells Chinook Coupon Books through End of November

The UST Green Team is partnering with the 2011 VISION Team to raise funds for the purchase of materials needed to build raised garden beds in a Ugandan village by VISION volunteers during J-Term.

How you can help

The UST Green Team will be selling Chinook Books (formerly known as Blue Sky Guides), during convo hour through the end of November at the entrance to  The Grill in Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

Chinook Books are coupon books containing more than $3,000 in savings from Twin Cities’ businesses. Featured businesses include Pizza Lucé, Grand Café, Trotters, The Tea Garden, The Guthrie, Minnesota Orchestra, Kowalski's, Whole Foods, Vertical Endeavors, REI.

The coupon books cost $20, and most coupons are valid through October 2011.

For each sale, the Green Team receives $10 to help purchase materials for the Ugandan garden beds.

Poor nutrition is a growing concern in impoverished regions of Uganda. The UST VISION Team will work to increase knowledge about urban farming in the country. Helping to build small raised beds or gardens of their own will benefit the Ugandan people environmentally and economically. The team also plans to raise produce for food distribution by a nutrition program to families in the village area with malnourished children and babies.

E-mail Green Team president Bridgette Kelly or Ali Vandercook with questions regarding the project or to purchase a Chinook Book.
