Green Team looks for a clean sweep on the Mississippi River banks Saturday

Saturday’s forecast is for mostly sunny skies and a balmy 50 degrees! Celebrate the day by joining the university's Green Team at the annual fall cleanup on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The University of St. Thomas, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east river bank from the Marshall-Lake Street bridge to the Ford Parkway bridge.

Whether to perform an act of kindness, do a community service project, or just to enjoy the beauty of the river colors and being outdoors, meet the Greet Team at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and the East Mississippi River Boulevard – rain, snow or shine. All ages are invited.

Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags and gloves will be provided for participants who need them. Coffee and food treats will be provided.

For more information e-mail Green Team co-leaders, Abi Yeomans  or Megan Sheridan.

The event is sponsored by the Green Team, the Physical Plant, the Recycling Team, and the Minnesota DNR Adopt-a-River program.
