Lecturer to discuss Arab artists
Art historian Sanà Makhoul will give a lecture, “Arab Artists Reclaiming Their Image,” from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.
The lecture, free and open to the public, is hosted by the Arab American Cultural Institute, Minneapolis, and the St. Thomas Art History Department.
Makhoul, who now lives in California, is a Palestinian who immigrated to the United States in 1990. She has an undergraduate degree in architecture from the Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and a graduate degree in art history from San Jose State University. Her graduate studies focused on modern Western art and postcolonialism, and on contemporary Arab art and neocolonialism.
